A friend has asked how to find out about a relative born in the first half of 20th century - possibly spent some time in prison. Which records if any can I point her in the direction of? I have only worked with pre 1901 stuff so am no help, but feel sure someone on here would know! thanks

Possibly only the birth cert unless she has any more info

What is she trying to find out? Does she know where he used to live/who he married - what does she know and then work from that. If it is that recent, she cant hope to get any prison records - may be if the crime was serious enough, a newspaper report?
