I get hundreds of spam emails of every nature a week, most likely because I am a member of a few online travel forums. It's so bad I pay my ISP to filter them but I still a lot get through even now. My latest was from Dell to say I'd bought over $2,000 worth of stuff... I don't think so. I never open an attachment until I'm absolutely sure who it's from. My ISP tells me to change my email address but I don't want to. Cheers Gerry |

Junk emails are not uncommon. Your email address is at risk of interception be some unscrupulous person each time you send one. I know several people at work who are receiving spam to their business em address and even the firms filters struggle to catch them sometimes. I use Hotmail's built in junk filter. It means you have to log each junk message as it arrives but it does seem to work. for me. I now get about one a week whereas it was up to 20 per day. The likelihood of GR 'selling' emails is probably remote but that is not to say there are not unscrupulous members on the site making mischief. |

I sometimes get emails purporting to be from paypal. You can forward them to this address: [email protected] and they will investigate. (It happens with ebay too and they have a similar address for spoof mail.) Jan |

Hi Mattie - I never normally get this sort of emails but I too have been receiving some over the last couple of weeks. I now don't open any unless I know the sender. Sue |

We also have been inundated with unwanted e-mails (upto 100 per day). We have been so fed up with it that we have been forced to change our e-mail address. We have only passed our new e-mail address to friends and family and I stress the only company we have given it to is genes reunited. If we start getting unwanted junk mail we will have proof who is sending it. Carol |

I didn't know about the scam on paypal as I don't use it just used the reply button to contact them Thankyou although I do try to be careful what I open. I think I will change my e-mail address as I am sick of the number of e-mails I am getting. |

I had several from paypal too did reply to them saying if they could access my account they were a better person than me as I cannot access it at all due to various reasons namely moved house, telephone number and e-mail address only thing the same is credit card and they won't re-assign that! |

Thankyou for that, Gillian - just trying to clear up all possibilities. Think the only way it will get sorted is by everyone who is affected saying so. If the e-mails are unopened and sent on to GR, are they able to do any investigating? Or would this be impossible for them to find out? Jay |

Actually clicked on the link with mine, as I thought I recognised the senders name as a GR contact (It wasn't - forename on one contact and surname of another ) Link was for a dating agency - deleted e-mail and have been waiting for spam to follow. Nothing so far, thank goodness. I did wonder if it had come from 'Friends', although I never completed that registration?? Anyone else affected registered with both sites? It just said 'Hello Janet. See you at www.......' Jay |

Yes, I'm getting loads of emails for Viagra etc. I have them put straight into my 'deleted' mailbox, but still have to permanently delete them - about ten a day! This is a recent occurrance and, looking at this board, it seems quite likely that GR are to blame! I'm VERY disappointed in them if that's the case!!!!! |

Funny you should say that - my email has been blocking trashmail about twenty per week - some are explicit and some are selling Viagra. This has happened over the last couple of weeks. Lin |

I read the threads on general. People seemed to get them addressed to their user name on here. Not had any myself luckily. Anne |

I would like to know if any other members on here are receiving e-mails of a sexual nature coming through? I have a feeling that genes have sold our e-mail addesses on. I also know that this will be deleted as soon as they see it |
