I have found 4 of my relatives service records from WW1 and 2 discharge papers, and one chelsea pensioner record. So dont be put off. |

only about 20% of pre 1920 service records servive as most were burnt in a fire and some are not in good condition even. The ones that remain are on microfilm at the National Archives at Kew. You might find so info about them on the National Archives website. |

Have you had a look on http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ at the medal cards? The national archives in Kew is the only place where you can get service records, but only 25 - 30% of these have survived. |
