is there any way of doing a search on Ancestry by address? Every now and again when doing a search there is a box for the address but its not always there. I have a couple of addresses that I would like to check through the census years to see who lived there. Names of the same family keep croppping up on birth certs and the street name is the same. I would like to check these against the census records for diff names but it won't let me :-( From Carole (and Susan) |

Carole, You can search the 1881 census on Ancestry by address and the 1901 here: http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk Rose |

The 1881 census is the only one on Ancestry that has been indexed by address, hence you'll only find the address search box on that census. You can search 1841/61/71/91 by address on 1837online - you can search for free but you'll need to buy some credits to see the details. Cheers Richard |

Thanks for the tip - I went through the descriptions of each census area with the aid of a London A-Z trying to find my great-grandfather - it took me hours! |
