normaly a special marriage licence would be granted if their was a reason to get married in a hurry such as some one going of to war or if one partner was ill and not expected to live,or Typical reasons for getting marriage by special licence are when you want to get married in a parish where neither of you live, it was just a way of getting married in a hurry as you did not have bans, (where your marriage was put up on display in advance) for 14 days before the event for every one to read Roy |
