Just had my magazine from the Lincolnshire Family History Soc, and there is an interesting article on the above. Full info is also on the GRO web site. This project is to digitise all the indexes of BMD back to 1837 and is underway and should be completed by 2008. A big enhancement will be that: Birth Indexes from 1837 will show mother's maiden surname, Death Indexes from 1837 will show age at death, Marriage Indexes from 1837 will show surname of spouse. This should make searching much easier in the future.

Just looked at the info on GRO site - doesn't say that these will be available to search on line, nor does it mention the extra info. 'Data capture' is to be done in India - presumably that means reading the scans and inputting the data. Has anyone looked at the new Phone records on Ancestry? Some of the results are hilarious!
