Hi Terry. I checked WWI draft registration cards and didn't see anyone who fit. I don't know if everyone was required to fill out a card (provided he was even in the States at that time). I also checked Library and Archives Canada http://www*collectionscanada.ca/index-e.html (replace * with .) (click on Archives) in case he went to Canada, but there were numerous Smiths. If there's a chance he ended up in Canada, it might be worth combing through some time.

Kathy, He was John Morris Dickie Smith born in Largo, Fife on 15/4/1891. Parents were Charles Smith and Agnes Turnbull. This is all I know. Thanks for any help you can give me. Jane, Thanks I will try that site. Terry

Can someone tell me how I go about tracing an ancestor who emigrated to USA?? I only have his name and full date of birth. I have no idea when or where from or to. Is this too little information for me to find him?? Terry
