In that case, Mary, I am sorry but it will be very difficult I think, as the two administrative systems are completely different, and my friend does not cross the Green Line into Turkish territory. However, it may be that the Greek Cypriot authorities still hold records from before partition - I will ask! OC

Hi Mary My friend lives in Cyprus and I will ask her if she can suggest anything - I am sure they have a system of Civil Registration over there, as well as church registration. I take it he was born on the Greek side of Cyprus? If it was Turkish Cyprus, then it will be more difficult. It may be a few days(!) before she replies to my message. OC
