Ok, so if someone goes to court there is someone who types down everything that gets said right??? So, where do these doccuments go? Is there a way i can get to see what was said like 25 years ago??? LOU XXXXXXXXXX

I depends on what type of court case it was. If it was a magistrates court rather than a crown court, then you can find the magistrates record books at the local archives, but there is a 30 year closure on them. I don't know anything about crown court cases, though. Kath. x

Thanks kath... So, if it were something 'domestic' for example child maintainace it would be at a small court??( Magistrates??) What i am looking for is something my dad said in court..(he died 14 years ago so i cant ask him now...) When my mum wanted maintainace she took him to court, would have been at least 25 years ago.. It is alledged that something got said and i want to see for myself.. Would they keep records like that??? LOU XXXXXXXXXXXX

I don't think you will find that. My grandmother took my grandfather to court for maintenance when he deserted her in the 1920's. We found the entry in the magistrates record books and it gives details of what he had to pay her weekly, how much court costs he had to pay, and even the name of the policeman who had to serve the court order on him. However it was not a transcript of what was actually said, so I don't think you will be able to find that out. Kath. x

Thats a shame..I thought there were people there who took 'minutes'... What do they do with them..Surely they 'file' them somewhere... Oh, well, back to the drawing board.. Thanks Kath.. LOU XXXXXXXXXX
