Sharon, you can order a copy of the marriage entry from Scotland's People if you click on 'order extract' I think it is. They are supposed to be putting the images of OPR entries on the website for downloading one of these days, but who knows when that will be?! But anyway, if you do order a hard copy of the marriage entry from 1803 you will most likely find out that it doesn't tell you any parents' names. I'm sure I've looked these people up before, but I can't remember any details! So, I may have suggested these things before - - look for baptisms on the IGI or Scotland's People (presumably you have already tried this!) - If you find any possibles, look to see if either or both of the possible parents are listed in the 'wills' section of Scotland's People, because if they are, you may well be able to find out from the will, inventory or whatever it is, whether you have the right person. I'll get back to you if I can think of any other suggestions! Kate. |

Oh, found this one on the IGI: LOCHART URQUHART - International Genealogical Index / BI Gender: Male Marriage: 29 NOV 1803 Canongate, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland (bride is Isabel Fraser) Perhaps this is one of those where the banns were read in the two different parishes? Anyway, I'll have a quick nosy in my Edinburgh stuff and see if I can find anything, but I have to go and get my daughter from school very soon... sorry, didn't find anything. Kate. |
