FJG Remind me to show you my ancestor, found on a submitted tree. She had 44 children (two born on consecutive days, not a problem for this woman cos she walked twelve miles in one direction to have the first baptised, went home and had the next one, then walked five miles the other way to have the other one baptised). She married her own son before he was born and they managed to have five children. Her last child was born when she was 69 - a double miracle, because she had been dead for four years. OC |

Clive There has long been a debate about this, and the answer is still not clear - I work on the assumption that the records are rotated, about every 3 or 6 weeks. This is supposedly because of the sheer volume of records held on the LDS computer. If it is true, then I think it applies to 'smaller' records, as most of my main, favourite registers are there all the time. But certainly, there have been instances when I have searched for something that was previously there, and I cannot find it. I have heard also that the LDS are tackling the problem of an overfull data bank, by gradually removing EXTRACTED records which are accurately represented in SUBMITTED records - how we will know this, I do not know and the mind boggles. I can understand there being a rolling programme to make new extracted records available, but surely that doesn't mean that existing material ceases to be available to search on - or does it? |

I can confirm also that new parish register extractions get added all the time - the Isle of Man being one which has been recently added, and several small chapels in Lancashire. I assume it is the same anywhere else. The LDS now have a programme of controlled extraction for new work, which is as near fool-proof as it is possible to be. I have a list of 'stuff I can't find' near my computer, and do a routine seach about once a fortnight - I am gradually crossing stuff off. OC |

According to a friend who is a Mormon, the IGI is, as Jay said, on a rolling programme. It is as well to check every now and then for updates. |

People are constantly adding submissions, but I'm not sure if the LDS are still doing parish register extractions and adding. According to posts on here, the IGI is on a rolling programme, with only certain data being displayed at a time. Therefore, you do need to keep checking every few weeks, incase the information you want had been temporarily withdrawn and reappears at a later stage, when other info 'disappears'. Jay |
