I got to the point of changing 2 John smiths and the volume reduced markedly......people would not respond to these connections most times anyway,so I removed Smith and inserted 'Commonest Name '..........funnily enough I did get someone mail me to see if their was a connection.........I kid you not.

Go to your Hot Matches and scroll down to the bottom, make sure it says View Ignored Hot Matches, if it say View Current Matches, click on it and all your discared ones should vanish leaving only the saved ones. Should you want to bring them back in the future you then click on View Ignored Hot Matches to reverse the process Jennifer

The irritating thing, as far as I'm concerned, is that I've had messages from GR members saying......'sorry, mine's from XXXXX', when I haven't contacted them. They don't seem to cotton on to the fact that the wretched 'hot' matches are computer-generated..... Reg

Recently I have been getting hot matches for people who are not in my tree - not just the wrong people (e.g. same name but wrong place) but for names not listed in my tree at all. This has only just started happening. Has anyone else encountered this? Regards Susan

If any one wants to stop hot matches go to account details and ask genes not to send you e mails about hot matches and that seems to stop the hotmatches as well. Anne

Thanks Tracey, I like your answer the best. So they can mount up and clog the works for all I care. I have tried everything else. But will be more dilligent about saving after discarding - don't really know why I have to save what I have discarded tho???? cheers, Maria

Irritating, I know, but just ignore them and pretend they are not there. When hot matches first came out, I religiously went through them getting rid of all the cold matches - anyone want hundreds of Will Browns from everywhere in the world? Please? I wasted so many precious hours before realising tidying up this cyberjunk was totally pointless. It was needlessly frustrating too as I was always losing my place when the blooming thing kept returning to page one. Made me swear a lot!

Hi Maria, I press discard match as I go through them, then Save (at the bottom of the page) when I've done a load, and I haven't had any problems. Good luck, Janice

I am entirely gutted or perhaps just stupid. I have discovered I have 10 PAGES of 'NOT SO hot matches' that I can't get rid of. When I click the box for don't show me again, and then go back into the message body itself and click discard, does it go away?????? NO. It just goes back into my current hot matches I am keeping an eye on. I have spoken to the powers that be and did what they said. 10 PAGES ARGHH!!!!!!!!!!!! Help me! A very distraught Maria
