If you look on the IGI batch C058751 (covers 1813-1852) that Enoch's baptism is on, you'll see that the Linacre women were all at it! John & Elizabeth Linacre had 9 children 1815-1832 (just to prove the vicar was recording mother AND father's names) Thomas & Sarah had Mary 1825 Ann Linacre had 6 illegitimate children 1820-1832! Rebecca had Abraham 1837 Hannah had Elizabeth 1817 Elizabeth had Thomas 1819 and George 1822 Frances had Enoch 1817 I'm guessing at least some of the other Linacre woman were Frances' sisters??? |

Richard I just want to say you are an amazingly clever tallented star and I thank u with all my heart xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Richard was right lol Sarah Hodgkinson was Enochs bride woohoo. Now I have another spanner in this little tale (think they did this on purpose lol knowing a nosey granddaughter was gonna start digging lol) When Enoch was christened in Aug 1817 at Northwingfield, no fathers name was there only the mothers of Frances So I presumed that fathers name was either not known or Enoch was illegitimate (i know putting 2 + 2 together and getting 22 lol) I collected the marriage cert and it says the fathers name was Enoch Lineker occu Miller. So 1 is that really his dad? 2 if it is why was his name not put on the christening records? 3 do you think he was fibbing about Enoch Lineker being his dad? 4 why would he do that if so? 5 screammmmmmmmm I cant find another Enoch Lineker from Northwingfield to be the father i want to laugh jump up in the air with joy at the cert then cry with frustration at this cert throwing more Q's with no apparent answers back at me. Thank u everyone for all your help youve all been amazing again and I thank ya all from the bottom of my heart Luv Angie xxxxxxxxx |

Angela Her name is Sarah Hodgkinson !!! I took a punt that the Mary Hogkinson on the 1851 might be a relative, so looked up Hodgkinson on the complete images (Hodgkinson is not yet transcribed on FreeBMD for that quarter). And yes, there is a Sarah Hodgkinson with the same volume/page number as Enoch's marriage. Cheers Richard |

Would this be Arthurs birth? Might be an idea to get his birth certificate, will give mothers name so you can be sure any marriage certificate you get is the right one. Surname First name(s) District Vol Page -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Births Dec 1846 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lineker Arthur Nottingham 15 599 |

Freebmd is showing only three brides and three grooms on that page, generally there would be four marriages to each page and there are two from the page not transcribed yet - may not be a matching couple that is missing. Freemd is being transcribed from the indexes and may be Sarah's page has not been done yet. If you request Enoch's marriage certificate with the stipulation wife, Sarah, they will only send it if it matches. It's an unusual name and there's not likely to be a vast number of Enoch Linekers getting married. |

You don't say what Enoch's surname is but if it is relatively common, maybe you have the wrong person? What year is the marriage cert you have found? If it is from before the 1841 census, maybe that wife died and he married Sarah. Sam x |

I have followed my Enoch from birth through the census when he was 25 in the 1841 census right through to when he died (cant get birth cert as pre 1837) whats confusing me is that its saying on all the census's that his wife is Sarah. I have found a marriage cert and went to the register office today to order it (collect it in the morn) but I cant find him marrying a Sarah anwhere. There are 3 possible ladies he could have married but none of them are called sarah so why? I know I should be waiting to see what the marriage cert says tom........ but it kept me awake all night trying to figure it out and is gonna keep me awake tonight too boohoo. any ideas why anyone? |
