Ancestry doing my head in... HELP

As said, they're not searchable. You have to go into the original images and search them manually. I'm currently doing deaths... have done 20 years... 4 quarters... 80 quarters and of course they're not on the first page. I still have another 50 years to go lol. Liz |

Linda, you can't find your Mum and Dads entry just by typing their names in. The partial (searchable) part of the BMDs in Ancestry are from FreeBMD and mainly cover the 1800s - they are not complete. To find your parents you need to select the 'full' index, type in just your Dad's name (or Mum) and the quarter/year. You will then get the image of a page to open and search for the reference. Are you putting in the right date. I have done it myself putting 18 instead of 1925. It took me awhile to realise what I done. Apart from that mine is working ok. Jelly |

Linda, try putting the first three letters of the surname then *, this will bring up all quarters that have the first three letters then any others. EG Smi* will bring up Smith, Smithers etc. You may find any missing quarters this way, but you will have to trawl to find the entry you want. Keith |

Trying to do a search on BMD's on Ancestry..1934..Keeps coming up with no matches...so I typed in my Mum and Dad's marriage, which I know is there and it's still 'no matches' What am I ddoing wrong, or is it Ancestry??...Linda |
