Already i've worked out the father to the list of the family above is called William, he isnt present for some reason.

Robert's marriage certificate should give you his father's name. The banns, ( if they survive) may give an indication of his parish and census should show his birthplace..... then it's on to trawling parish records. Gwyn

Did they marry in Northumberland? I would be grateful if anyone could help me try to get a generation further back. Im at a Robert Young, born 1832 in Hull, who married a Mary Scott and had 8 children (that i know of). Thank you.
