my grandmother was born in Austria (somewhere!!) in 1906 & came to this country when she was 3 months old. I am trying to find out from where in Austria.. maybe from her birth certificate. She didnt have a UK birth certificate, it must have Austrian. If thats the case, how did she get a UK passport when she was in her 50's Thanks for any help

You wont get anywhere in Austria without knowing the town of birth. Maybe the marriage of the parents - but that also requires knowledge of the town where the event took place. You could try the Nationalisation Registers at the National Archives, Kew which may give further details about her birth, or that of her parents, assuming that she came to this country with her parents !

Thanks Joe, she did come to England with her parents, but they definately didnt get naturalised. does anyone know how she would have got a UK passport without a UK birth certificate?

. I can only think that she may have got a passport through marriage to a Brit. or included in her husbands passport (?)
