Always difficult to differentiate RN from M in lower case fonts - I think the town you are looking for is DORNSTETTEN which is S W Germany in Baden-Wurttemberg, on the edge of the Black Forest (Schwarzwald) and is erqui-distant from Stuttgart to the N E; Strasbourg to the N W and Zurich (Switzerland) to the South. If you write to that town the Postcode is 72280. I had a look at the phone book and No name Z E K N T exists anywhere in Germany. Also tried Z E N K T but no luck with that either. Das Telefonbuch : http://www.dastelefonbuch.de/. Enter name in first box - and town in 2nd Then click FINDEN. The name of the Town is not necessary. I have just tried the name Venn in thatn town and the only one that came up is Brase Thomas Panoramastr. 11, 72280 Dornstetten Tel No.: 07443 28 27 38. Cannot trace any Keightley there. and the only one in all Germany is Margarete Keightley, Tannengrund 5, 30926 Seelze, Tel No. 0511 40 38 82. Seelze is way up north near Hannover. You mention a marriage a few years ago - if you KNOW that the marriage took place in Dornstetton and youi are able to PROVE that you are a direct relation of the bride then you could write for a copy of the marriage certificate. |

How to use the Tele Info Service Wep page (http://www.teleinfo.de) to search German phonebooks for free. This service will give you a count of how often a name is listed in German phonebooks. It provides you with up to five addresses per name (cities only, no streets or phone numbers), but using a few tricks (listed below) you can get more. 1) Choose 'Gastzugang' (guest access). You will get a page called 'Starten einer Anfrage' (start of an inquiery) 2) Fill out the form: Name = the name you are looking for. This is the only mandatory information. optional: PLZ = Postleitzahl = zipcode. Ort = city Strasse = street Vorname = first name Beruf = occupation Branche = line of business I often use the zipcode and first name options to broaden the search: Zipcode: German zipcodes are 0xxxx - 9xxxx. If you specify PLZ=0, PLZ=1, PLZ=2,.. in you searches you can get up to 10 x 5 listings... First name: search for Vorname=A, Vorname=B, .... 3) Choose you options or use the defaults (marked by a *) alle* = all names nur Firmen = only businesses keine Mehrwortnamen* = no multiword names nur Mehrwortnamen = only multiword names exakte Namen* = exact names aehnliche Namen = similar names (very helpful) 4) Start your inquiery: 'Anfrage starten' (loeschen = delete) 5) After a moments wait a new window will pop up: 'Das Ergebnis Ihrer Anfrage' 'xxx Adressen gefunden' or 'keine Adressen gefunden' 'The result of your inquiery' 'xxx addresses found' or 'no addresses found' If you don't change anything now and hit 'Anfrage starten' again you will be provided with the first 5 addresses in the following format: W. Konnecke (in this case I searched for: Konnecke, PLZ=3) 30xxx Hannover 0511 1317xxx -- That is all you will get. No exact streetnames, no complete zip-code, nothing else. However, it's a start, and some helpful soul on the net may be able to fill out the blanks (check the FAQs for ideas). |

found this info from Google. Subject: 7. How do I find a German, Austrian, or Swiss address or phone number? If you know the name and town of the person you seek, it is usually fastest and cheapest for all concerned to find phone numbers via international long distance information, then to call them for their address. There may be a charge for the information, but it is most probably less than the cost to society of a single query to soc.genealogy.german. If you don't know their town, then the best resource is a German phone CD-ROM. These are available in Germany for about DM30 (DeTeMedien's Telefonbuch fuer Deutschland, PC & Mac, ISBN 3-931424-09-X) to DM50 (Topware's D-Info 2, PC), or can be ordered online from <http://www.telebuch.de/>; ABC B'ucherdienst <http://www.cdrom-discount.de/>; CD-ROM Discount A commercial online telephone listing is available at <http://www.Teleinfo.de/>;. This service offers some limited information for free to guest users. For Austrian telephone numbers, the Amtliches Telefon-Buch is on CD. Information about it is available from <http://www.austria.eu.net/icon/e-atb.html>;. For Swiss telephone numbers, try the online directory at <telnet://etv.switch.ch> login as ETV. |
