Hi Wendy Are you on dial up or broadband? If you are on dial up you need to disconnect before sending your fax Sylvia

Did you: 1. Plug fax into phone outlet? 2. Install the hardware (fax machine) so the PC recognizes there is a new device attached? To do so: a. Click on START. b. Click on CONTROL PANEL. c. From the list, click on ADD HARDWARE. d. An ADD HARWARE WIZARD will appear on your screen - follow the prompts to have the PC recognize that the fax is attached.

Thanks Judy, I have since found out that if i am using my windows XP which has the Fax in....because I am on Broadband and not dial up, I have to have a separate modem, so I have decided against as I prooberly wouldn't use very much and i can always go next door to the shop and send a fax. Wendy R
