I have a family that seem to disappear after the 81 census. They were William Fox 1858 Gosberton, his wife Susannah 1857 Pinchbeck, children William S Fox 1879 Sibsey and Elizabeth E Fox 1881 Pinchbeck. In 81 they were living in Pinchbeck. If they emigrated how would I go about finding where they went? Thanks for any tips. Carole xx |

Keith Yes that's them. After this census they completely disappear! I've tried 91 and 1901 census but no trace, that's why I wondered if they moved abroad and how to go about finding them. Carole xx |

At the moment I cannot see any of them either on the 1891 or 1901, will keep looking though. As to imigration, I'm afraid that I cannot help you on that sorry. Keith |

Thanks for your help Keith. I've tried every which way of spelling Fox in case they are mistranscribed but no luck. Can't find any deaths for them either, so feel they must have gone abroad. Carole xx |

Hi Carole, have you tried just putting in their given names, place and dates of birth? This sometimes works with mistranscriptions - or when they have been mistakenly included in someone elses household! Victoria |

Hi Victoria Yes I tried that. I've even trawled through the whole of Pinchbeck in 1891 in the hope that they were near Williams parents who were still living there. It's a complete mystery! I feel there are probably more children by 91 but don't know how to start looking for them. Carole xx |

Wendy I wondered that too, or maybe Susannah remarried and their surname changed, but even searching for William Jr or Elizabeth with no surname still doesn't bring them up. Of course it's more difficult now Ancestry don't state the birthplace in the search! Carole xx |
