Any suggestions gratefully accepted to track down how / where someone travelled to US at this time. I know that they were in England in 1841, not there in 1851 and died in the States in 1857. Can anyone help with this brick wall? |

(Apologies if I have used the wrong message board!) I believe that Ellis Island wont cover this early a period. I have a Jeremiah Bagg born about 1789 in Somerset who is on the 1841 census there but has left for the US by the 1851 census. I have documents that state he died there in 1857. He left his wife and children behind but I believe he took some of his older sons as I can find no trace of them in the UK as yet. |
