Hi Can anyone tell me if there is anywhere else (other than Ancestry) where I can view 1851 census?? The problem is that on Ancestry the page I want has 4 lines missing and although I've told Ancestry about the missing text they haven't done a fresh scan (and that was a few weeks ago!!). The page I really need to see is: HO107/2025 page 17, if anyone can help me with this I'd be VERY grateful. Thanks Mary |

Hi Jane Oh OK thanks - I didn't know that (I should look at home page now and again eh!!) LOL. It's not the same as Ancestry tho is it? |

i really don't know Mary........... but if there are lines missing off the Ancestry page, won't the lines be missing off all of the others if they copied the original, does that make sense, lol? |

Hi Jane Yes you're right, if the lines are missing on the original then they will be missing on all copies, but I'm hoping that it's just Ancestry's copy that it's missing from and not the original. |

What area are you looking for? Just a thought that maybe someone on here has access to the fiches at a local library and would look it up for you. |

Hi Reggie If I just put in HO107/2025 page 17 (without folio number) it brings up the index - the first 4 lines have no names, click on first view image and it brings up the census page, and for 56 Brasshouse Row there is a family but no names given. I think this is my missing Henry Rose aged 1 month, but I'll never know for sure!! It may just be a bad scan on Ancestry or missing from the original - I'm hoping it's the former lol. Mary |

I don't think you will ever know.......sorry. Whoever copied the enumerator's notes to the census form has just missed out the names and birthplaces. All the other info is there. Address: Brasshouse Row (56 is the Household Schedule).......do you have the boy's birth cert? Or is he one of the ones who wasn't registered? Does the father's occupation (Sheet Glass Maker) match that of the boy's father? Reg |

Hi Joseanne Thanks, that's a good idea. It's West Bromwich, Staffordshire the area I'm interested in. Mary |

I think you're probably right Reggie. I think he was probably never registered, because I've never been able to find a birth cert. for him. The fathers occupation matches and I can find plenty of other glass makers but none with the name of John Rose. Mary |
