What is a journeyman?

A journeyman is someone who had served his apprenticeship and mastered his craft. Regards Mike |

As Mike has said, it is a classification of employment, rather than a profession, so you had journeymen builders, bakers etc. They were not yet enough well-established to start their own business and usually worked for other people. It comes from the French word 'jour' because they were paid according to a daily rate. Jay |
