After reading the various complaints about Ancestry I went to the site to check it out. I made searches of the 1871 census for a person I had found on there previously. However I tried it kept returning saying 'no luck', i even entered the page, folio etc. with the same result, I wonder if this explains why I have been so unsuccessful lately as there definitely is something wrong on the site. On another search I see they have removed page & folio numbers. Having only just renewed my ancestry membership I'm wondering whether its money wasted. |

My problem with Ancestry is that I cant access as a full member, it is saying that I am only a Registered Guest, when I paid a full years membership in August. I have emailed them three times only to be told to change my password and user name, which I have done so, three times, and I am still only a Registered Guest. I will have to try ringing them. |

Not only my relations but lots of other people who's birthplace is given as St and Saxony-Anhalt in italics. It seems anybody with a birthplace containing a St as in St Ives, St Pancras, St Lukes etc with no county given has ended up like my Limmers. Maureen |

I've been following all the info on ancestry with interest. It was only yesterday when I was searching various other genealogy sites and they popped up in various guises on every one of them. Do you think they are getting too big for their boots and the system can't cope? Pat |

Hi Maureen, Ancestry has a bug in their system with reference to the name of towns in birthplace been removed, which hasn't, just not showing. They are aware of the problem and currently working on it. I'll nudge my thread for you. I suggest you contact Ancestry on 08003457917 wrt rellies being changed as Germans. Bear in mind technical team only get into work about 3 pm. There is a facility on Ancestry where you can change incorrect info. Im not sure exactly where this can be found. Sorry, can't be of much help on this one. Liesele |
