Angela Yes - a kinship marriage produces TWO lots of relationships. Personally, I stick with the obvious relationships and don't bother with the weird ones - I am my own 15th cousin twice removed, my own 7th cousin and my own third cousin three times removed! I prefer to be just me, thanks! OC |

No, I don't think you have done anything wrong, there was a thread about this before. If you have a cousin, or other related marriage, then you become not just you, but your own fourth cousin or whatever. I am pretty sure there is a kinship thread, on Tips I think? OC |

Angela, Sorry, I think I'm lost too. It does sound complicated. If you are using FamilyTreeMaker, it shouldn't really let you put someone in twice without asking if the two are the same person. I think you need someone with a bit more idea than me to sort you out, although if there are unusual marriages in the family, then there will be a few unusual relationships as well. Kath. x |

I think the prob may have come about when I added my uncles kids (mums nephews) as it does get a bit complicated cus my cousin (my unclkes son) married my sister in law (hubbys sister) and had a child together. so do ya think its that thats boobooed if i put my uncle in twice by mistake would I get my mum being my cousin etc or do ya think thats not the cause? there are family members having babies with family members way back on my maternal nanna side but not my maternal grandad side. Theres also cousins marrying cousins and aunts etc god im lost |

I think the only thing you can do is to go back to your family tree program and check all the information you have entered, person by person, starting with yourself. You must have added the wrong information somewhere, unless you have a very complicated set of relatives!!! Kath. x |
