Thanks for looking Jeanette but Smith isn't the right one. I think I've answered my own question. Have been using Mozilla Firefox. Hubby suggested I viewed in Internet Explorer. On there was asked to download an enhanced viewer. Low and behold my blank pages appeared! Now I may be able to find the elusive Miss Temple!! Cheers, Heather

Thanks Glen, Have tried both suggestions with no luck! Am still getting blank pages, usually on the first two quarters. Trying to find Ethel D Temple's marriage c1914. It has to be on the blank page. I've looked everywhere else. :-(( Heather

Try this as an example on the FULL images birth index 1 at search box enter; Surname Hay, year 1940, hit search 2 At results screen select Jan-Mar quarter 3 Hit the blue '1940' above the magnifier/viewer bar at the top of the image 4 You can now select a quarter (hit any) 5 select the first letter of the surname 6 View the results

Sometimes it is the software reader than can't cope with the fuzzy images. It seems to affect quite a few 1940's images so try this as a workaround. If you enter a random name, and the year you want you will get the results screen appear. Pick a quarter to view. At the top of the index image look for the blue text (eg; 'you are here, England and Wales Birth Index 1837-1983, 1943, Jan-Mar) Click on the year (example above is 1943) then you can select the first letter of the surname. Scroll through the imahes till you get the one you need to view.

Can anyone tell me if the missing pages on Ancestry bmd (especially the war time ones) are actually lost, or is it just them? Cheers, Heather
