Does anybody know anything about obtaining Inquest Records. I only know that they are sealed up for a certain number of years. I have 3 generations of my family in a row where inquests were carried out. They are all in the same area Glamorgan but all had different occupations. Grateful for any help. Angela

Hi - you could try contacting the Local Coroners Office to ask where the records are kept but I think they are routinely destroyed I'm afraid. Thats what I have found with my London ancestors. Also coroners inquests are almost always reported in the local paper so you could look there and they always give the story surrrounding the death.

I'd agree with Susan. Your best bet is to find a report of the inquest in the local newspaper of the time (at the nearest library to the deaths). They usually give quite good detail. I got the newspaper report of my great grandfather's death in a railway work accident. Kath. x
