But any others would be really helpful bearing in mind they dont cost the earth!! Many thanks in advance to anyone who can share any info with me Kind regards Leigh

The main one is Ancestry...but it costs around £70.00 for a year's subscription. All bmd's are free on Ancestry - to access them you only have to register with the site, at no cost. If you need census info, apart from 1881, you can always ask for lookups; loads of GR members are only too willing to help. Reg

Familyhistoryonline is good. It is not free but only costs about 10p a look up. It is the website of the family history society and has the national burial index. It is worth trying freeBMD, free reg and free cen. Information is patchy but free. I like rootschat which is free to join. The county boards have links to local resources and there are lots of interesting threads on subjects like picture restoration and web site design. They also have surname interest tables so you can see if anyone is researching the same names. You can usually get a free fortnight on ancestry. If you load your gedcom onto the personal tree it will search for census information and links in one world tree. You can also contact ancestry members searching the same names. You can't downlload the tree yet though. Anne
