Could any one hlp me, how do I find out if a relitive played a part in ww1 when all i have is there name a date of birth. I have been told that they played a part in the war but that is it. the surname is Edmands |

CWGC will only tell you if they died. Try the Medal Index Cards at the National Archives site. That will tell you if they served. Keith |

Jacqueline, As well as Medal Rolls, you might find that his service records survive at the Public Record Office. Those that do are stored on microfilm and are organised alphabetically by name. From these, you can glean further information such as personal description, next of kin, address, former occupation and a clue to where he served - oh yes, and his regiment which will then help you to track what he might have experienced. If he continued in service after 1921, his records will be with the Army Staff Section - post again if this turns out to be the case because there's a different process for getting the records.
