Dirty Keyboard...how do I clean it or do I leave w

There was an article in a computer mag a few months ago (slightly toungue in cheek) describing how to clean it in the dishwasher. Seriously though, it is not worth bothering - given that they are so cheap. Most keyboards don't need drivers at all, it is only if you buy one with fancy gizmos and extra buttons that you need additional software.

Turn it upside down and give it a good shake. This'll remove the biscuit crumbs. While its switched off give it a good going over with a baby wipe. (A value one is best as they don't have the baby lotion in and they can also be used for a CRT screen, TV screens and a million and one other cleaning jobs!)

Yes in theory it should be, Windows now had most drivers already installed.

Hi Ann, Most keyboards nowadays are USB and will not require drivers, should be no problem. I would not worry about the old drivers Keith

Once it's cleaned with the special wipes, if it just needs a bit of a dust, I turn it upside down and use a soft clean paint brush between the keys. Kath. x

I would recomend alcohol wipes for the keys, and airspray (that is a can of compressed air) for underneath them. Make sure you angle the keybord down, and make sure you've eaten - you'll be disgusted by what comes out..

Thank you for the information....I inherited this lot from my son when he joined the forces....didn't know keyboards were that cheap.... It is a Microsoft and this is the first time that I have looked underneath...........what a place to put a health warning Cheers Colin

I use a tissue and alcohol gel on mine when it gets grubby. Usually can see ridges of grime on the keys that feels only. Also vacum mine occational (very naughty) but do use the lowest suction I can.

Colin it is possible to clean but time consuming, how about another one to replace it? You can but them from about £5. Keith
