Have you looked at the County Records web-site (I presume thare's one for West Yorkshire)? You'll need to have some idea what church he was christened in. Or there's probably a Family History Society for that area who may have transcribed some or all of the parish records. If the family was not C of E, the baptism records for non-conformist churches generally end up at the County Archives. Aberford would have been West Riding. J

Not all events are on IGI, I'm afraid Have just looked at Hugh Wallis and if he was bp Aberford, he should show up. According to Genuki, there is also a chapel there - could they have been non-conformist? Was he the eldest child? Sometimes children were bp where the grandparents lived, or the wife went to her parents for her first delivery and the child was bp in the home parish. Jay

The LDS have not transcribed all parish registers, by any means. You may have to go to the County Records Office and look through the Parish Registers for the area. But do a Place Search on the LDS site first, and see if they have filmed the records - if they have, you can go to your nearest LDS family history centre ( details also on the LDS site) and order the film for £3, to view for about a month. No Gail, I'm looking on the LDS site, as BMD only starts at 1837 on Ancestry. Stella

Hi Stella Is this in parish records you are looking?, civil registration got off to a tottering start in 1837. Prior to that it is parish records (and IGI may help to point you in the right direction). Regards Gail

I am looking for the birth of Frederick Charles Tyzack, born 1825/26 in Aberford, West Yorkshire, but can find no trace of it. Could another pair of eyes please help. Stella
