I have my Grandads full name, date of birth..etc, but when I went into 'records' to do a search on the Birth register and obtain the Vol no and Pg, he was not listed - how can that be? and, is there any other way to obtain this information? Rachel - Plymouth |

Hi, I am new to this and have bought credits so this is the only source I ahve looked at. His name was James Parsons, born 02nd December 1907, born Hampshire, could have been Portsmouth or Gosport - not sure. Thanks Keith |

Hi Rachael, are you sure of the birth year? I cannot see a James born in Hampshire in Q4 1907 or if registered late in Q1 1908. |

With you saying Portsmouth or Gosport, was it by any chance a military birth? |

Hi Keith - thanks for checking. Definitly 1907 but yes - he could have been a military birth. His father was also a James Parsons and we think he may have been either in the RMLI or RMA at Forton Barracks, Gosport. If he is a military birth, where do I go from here?? Tracey - His middle name is Henry |

Thanks everyone for your help. I will go from all the websites you have provided to start more searching. I am guessing that buying the points within this site was not worth it as there are other sources into finding records? |

Alverstoke is a suburb of Gosport, so the one Lunar found is probably correct. Mary |
