Found this by Googling 3 April 1861 HMS Cumberland (Guard ship of the steam reserve, Sheerness)Moored at Sheerness William Loney RN Surgeon

Would she have been a hulk?, she had I believe over a 1100 persons on board at the time of the census ( some where either Army or Marines) James

Sorry she does not appear to be under vessels in 1861 for some reason. Keith Have you tried googling for HMS Cumberland for info on her?
