I am new to this Genealogy site and am trying to trace my ancestory. Has anyone got any ideas/tips or advice that would help in my quest. I really dont have a clue on how to do this. i have started my family trees but that is about as far as I go! I have managed to look at records of births and deaths too! Many thanks.

Well start with yourself!! you know who your parents were and getting their marriage cert will tell you their dads.you work backwards till you get to the 1901 census & back from there. its very rewarding but will cost cost!! its best to get some certs to make sure you are on the right family tree. Its very easy to follow the wrong path if you dont verify everthing before you pass on

Hi...also for this site, type in any names you know of in your family in the quick search boxes at the top. You may find others who are doing the same tree. You can get in touch with them and swap info. regards Cynthia
