ok. i have what i think are details of a marriage in 1824. how do i verify this is the correct people? also how do i confirm that the people who i find on igi that look like they may be correct are the right ones? it was ok while i was getting certs to verify things but im a bit stumped now. dont want to go assuming coz the dates and names are correct that they are the same people! carolexx |

Always difficult. For a start have you checked the 1841 census for the names of the married couple linked to family names of children/address you may already know? Maybe the first child was born around the year they got married. Are the names unusual? I suppose really to confirm the IGI you need to visit the Record office of the area they were married in to trace the marriage which may give more clues (witness names, maybe ages/status), then to find their births on the parish register. Not sure myself how you get absolute proof, a lot of it with me has been 'gut' instinct. Ann Glos |
