I don't know about the other states but availble NSW indexes only go up to 1955.

Jacques each state has its own records. victoria is http://online(.)justice(.)vic(.)gov(.)au/servlet/bdm_home remove brackets. it is a pay for view site. marriages 1853 -1942 , deaths 1853 - 1985, births 1853 -1924 are available. jude
