Can anybody tell me please where Brentwood is? I have been trying to find when my gt.uncle died,on his marriage cert in 1906 he is living in Brook St, Stoke- on -Trent and his wife is living in Soho Rd Handsworth.He has an unusual name ,James Whitehead Lynam.I have found a James W Lynam death inA/M/June qtr.1943 the age is correct,but where is Brentwood?Being welsh I am not too familier with parts of England. Brentwood is in Essex. Junction 27 on the M25 Steve

There is only one Brentwood in my GB Atlas. I thought I would look incase there was another. Brentwood is Essex as I have family there. Good luck with your research. Irene

Thank you Irene, I don`t know wether to send off for the death cert, I have been thinking the James W. could stand for William and not Whitehead, but the age is correct. Many thanks anyway. Gwyn

If you order the death cert online and put in a check on the name they will only charge you £4 if it is wrong. I do not know if Brentwood Register Office can help, some do not charge if you give them information and it is not the right person they return your cheque. Good luck Irene

Hi Gwyn, only just seen your message - I live in Brentwood, have done for some years, and there is def a Brook Street here.
