Can anyone throw any light as to what Boathouse, Cambois was in 1901. I have found rellies who were living there, but there seems to be a lot of people living in the same place but there is no street, road and it is not numbered etc. It can't be one building surely? And does anyone know what type of area it was. If anyone wants to look it's RG13/4834 Meredith. Thanks for your help CAROLE |

Carole I just googled and Cambois pronounced Cam-uss is a small settlement on the south bank of the River Wansbeck in Northumberland, don't know if that helps you. Carole xx |

Was it in the 1901 census? In 1899 the new lifeboat station at Blyth was named Cambois. Have a look at this page:- http://www.rnli.org.uk/rnli_near_you/north/stations/BlythNorthumberland/history UPDATE - sorry, just realised you did say 1901. It looks like it was a lifeboat station then. Kath. x |
