After reading all the other threads on stillbirths, Iam still confussed. I have just found a birth and a death registared in 1930 both the same month. My question is would this birth be registared in bmd if it was a stillbirth or would it go to the stillbirth registar. Any help would be most welcome. Jelly |

that would mean it wasn't a still birth if the baby only lived for half hour it would get death cert. Jeanette |

Stillbirths are babies born dead. They weren't recorded at all until 1927 and after that, they were placed on a closed register. Only parents and siblings of stillborn children can have stillbirth certificates given to them. Any baby born alive is registered in the births index. You don't even have to live half an hour. My husband's elder brother lived just 2 minutes and his birth and death were registered. |

Thank you so much for the info. I just wanted to get my facts right before I go and show my family the sad news. Jelly |
