Hi, Where can I search for a birth in Canada? I am looking for Harry Devries (possibly Henry) who would have been born about 1914-1918. He had a twin called John. Thanks Julie

Hi Try posting on the Records Office board. I think someone is offering to do Canadian lookups. Type Canadian into the search box to find it. Cheer Paul

Julie, you may have to look at each Province for their vital statistics. For example, here in Ontario, we have a website called 'Ontario Vital Statistics Project' for BDM's etc. at: http://www.rootsweb [ Update . . . (there seems to be a filter that scrambles URLs on this site) . . . after the 'rootsweb' put a 'dawtcom', then comes a '/' (forward slash), then '~' (tilde), the the letters 'onvsr' and another forward slash. Type those on at the end of the address. Or do a search for this Project] I took a moment to look under Births for Devries and there were none there yet. Each county has their own Genealogical Society as well which may be helpful if you had more specific information about a family member's location. The stats are available from either the government or from the LDS but they are on microfiche reels and someone would have to do a lookup. Hope this helps, Gary

Hi Gary, Thankyou for the website I will have a look. If you just place a * instead of the 'dot' or put brackets around the dot then you can write the website. www.rootsweb*com/~onvsr Thanks again for your help Julie

Margaret does that mean that I can not get a certificate for his birth until 100 years after his birth ie if he was born 1915 then I will have to wait until 2015 ? Julie
