thanks maureen i had a look and yes you were right i didn't even think of putting her name first (how sexist am i) anyway it says there is no image so where do i go from there do you know i has happened on the other side of my family too is it because it is parish reg. ive not got a lot of spare cash and i dont want to sqander it on something that maybe wrong is there anywhere on the net you can view thes records? sharon x

Hi Sharon The marriage does come up if you put her name in first and do a soundex on the surname. This is the baptism entry which might be your David. HOGG, David Hume Christening Gender: Male Birth Date: 5 Sep 1822 Christening Date: 22 Sep 1822 Recorded in: Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland Collection: Canongate Father: William HOGG Mother: Agnes LAN Source: FHL Film 1067746 Dates: 1811 - 1855 Maureen

no maureen i dont have that info what is the actual site cause i am not very good with initals thank you i still cannot get the marriage on scotlands people even though i have the actual date x

thats them alright we must have found the same census about the same time thank for looking for me. ifeel so bad for blackening my gr gr gr grandparents name they'll probilaly haunt me now lol

may i have got it wrong is that on the Family seargh site glitter babes my grgr grandad was born in1865 so i suppose it could be them thanks

Check out IGI There is a marriage listed for David Hogg and Christina Ramsay 1st May 1848 Saint Cuthberts, Edinburgh. No idea if this is the same couple. Maureen

Hi Patricia Thanks for the advice. I have been trying to sort this for a while now and think that maybe I need to go to the local area and see if I can find information there. The problem being its 500 miles away. I suppose if it was all easy it would be boring. Julie

Sorry to hear that, could you trace back via, electorol rolls, if they have they in Scotland ?? not to sure about scottish procedures sorry. May be it may be worth you contacting Scottish Genealogy Forums, they would be able to give you sound advice ?? Good LUck

Hi Patricia The reason being that the names of both his parents (the one I cannot find a marriage for) are very common in the Scotland area I am searching and therefor cannot not be sure of who they really are. For example I came up withe 126 names the same as mothers in the census of that area. Julie

I too find this very frustrating. I cannot find a marriage, I know the child was born out of wedlock. It is even worse when on other certs belonging to them, that they insisted on putting a married name for the mother. I am at a complete halt on them. I am sure my ancestors are laughing at me somewhere. Julie

This happened to my friend she swore black was blue her great grandparents were married as he was a man of the cloth, and we cant find a marriage been looking on and off for years.......

i was tracing my gr gr gr grandparent marriage on scotland people web site with no joy so i though i will trace is son Alexander hogg born 27/08/1865 in newington edinburgh there is the mark of my gr gr gr grandad and his wife? david hogg and christina hogg ms ramsey but no date or place of wedding does that mean she was his common law wife or what
