Does anyone know what will happen if I let my full membership lapse, at least for a few months while the new software has its shakedown period? Will my saved messages and contact list be deleted? What will happen to uploaded photographs? In short, what will be left of what I have now when (if) I resubscribe? |

The only thing you can't do if you don't pay, is post on the boards and see other peoples trees. You may be charged more later though. |

It would be irritating if my contacts list were lost, so that when I came back I had no idea who I'd already talked to (more for those who turned out not to be related. I don't tend to remember who they were!). I'm not bothered about leaving the tree on site, though. It will still be useful for anyone who wants to contact me. Having said that, I haven't had a positive match in ages... not since GR claimed only about 60 million names. I don't know who the new 25 million people are, but they're none of mine! |

I reckon you get most of the value of this site in the first few weeks of membership. After that you are just waiting for a newbie to join who knows something that you don't. I doubt that I will renew when my first year is up. (It will be interesting to see if they leave this message up!) |

My membership expires on Saturday and I will not be renewing. But I have contacted everyone who contacted me via GR with whom I have genealogical links, and given them my private e-mail. So long and thanks for all the fish! nell |

Definitley will not be renewing after being conned with extra couple of quid on renewal. Stupid replies to emails that they obviously didn't read properley really annoyed me. The money doesn't bother me in the slightest but the principle does. |
