Annoyingly only one cover sheet was in with the two certificates (which in fact is always the case I find) and related to the other certificate, a death certificate which was correct. I'm fairly certain I did not get the ref number wrong, as I always check it very very carefully before sending, but even if somehow I did surely they still would not have sent a cert relating to an entirely differently named individual?

Chris. I know you believe you understand what you think I said but I'm not sure if what you heard is exactly what I meant. LOL Keith

Richard Just as a matter of interest... Did the sheet that comes with the certificate have the details you gave or the details for the certificate you received. If it is your cover sheet details, and I don't know how the GRO work, but I wonder if whoever researched the certificate, in a rush, picked up the cover sheet/certificate for the certificate/cover sheet they had as they are fairly similar....Hope you can see what I am getting at! That would mean the GRO have a cert and cover sheet that don't match OR someone has your cert and their cover sheet!!! Hope you get it sorted. Chris <<<Going for a lie down after trying to put the above into 'near' English lol

I had two wrong certs a few weeks back, both the same day. I sent a letter to the P.R.Unit at Southport, enclosing the certs but I photo copied the details etc before sending. Got a letter and one of the correct one back and the other wasn't the one I wanted although they had taken the full £7 from me but I had put a check to be done and I got a partial refund for that one. Yvonne PS Had to wait another two weeks approx. .

I have sent an email to them with the reference number, to the complaints section. I was just really hoping someone else here would have had the same happend and let me know how they sorted it. It's dissapointing to pay and wait two weeks and get a cert through thats completly wrong. Pretty upset.

Help, has anoyne had this happen to them before. Previously all my certs have been correct but this morning one was totally wrong I sent off for the marraige of Harry Simpson 1889 Oct-Nov-Dec Petersfield Hampshire, Sussex 2c 281 (Bride should be Mary Annie Pink) The cert came throughy in right time and district, but the names were completely wrong a William Henry Thompson and Ann Hetherington! I double checked with the actual index image and the details I supplied the GRO were correct..so why do I have the wrong cert? and what can I do about it? Any help would be much appreciated!
