Googled and found a good site www.proni.gov.uk/EXODUS/EMIGRATION/homeland Though it deals with migration to the U.S.A. lt tells about the potato crops failing from the early 1800s on average every 2 years with a general nationwide failure every 5 years. lt was a very interesting read. Pam

The main potato famine was in the 1840s, but its quite possible that people migrated at all times because of extreme poverty.

Does anyone know if anything happened in lreland to cause migration? My father always believed his family of Logans moved here because of the famine. l have his ancestors on the 1841 with 3 children born in Liverpool from 1826/9 Also the head had brought his 40year old sister too. Anyone have any ideas. lf l don't reply l have been called away but will be back later. Pam
