Googled and found a good site www.proni.gov.uk/EXODUS/EMIGRATION/homeland Though it deals with migration to the U.S.A. lt tells about the potato crops failing from the early 1800s on average every 2 years with a general nationwide failure every 5 years. lt was a very interesting read. Pam |

The main potato famine was in the 1840s, but its quite possible that people migrated at all times because of extreme poverty. |

Does anyone know if anything happened in lreland to cause migration? My father always believed his family of Logans moved here because of the famine. l have his ancestors on the 1841 with 3 children born in Liverpool from 1826/9 Also the head had brought his 40year old sister too. Anyone have any ideas. lf l don't reply l have been called away but will be back later. Pam |
