It depends on the opperating system that you are using. go to start, then programs, then accessories, then system tools then scheduled tasks. to scan disk just right click on your virus program, and select scan hard disk. Roy |

Try the thread: 1 Stop Routine PC Maintenence on the TIPS board.....I've nudged it up for you....information is on the first page of the thread. You can also check the HELP section of your PC: 1. Click on START. 2. Click on HELP and SUPPORT. 3. Enter a keyword for what you need help on in the SEARCH field and click on 'search' or the arrow. Revelent information and help topics will appear that will walk you through. Judy |

Scandisk, is usually an automatic program that runs on startup, AFTER an illegal shutdown........on the older operating systems. It checks your hard drives for any errors that may have been introduced by say, a power dip that results in a computer crash..... Bob |

Can you explain exactly what it is you are trying to achieve? As Bob has alluded to, scan disc is a diagnostic used when you have hard disk problems - I believe the XP version is now called chk disc. You would not normally run this as a matter of routine, only when you have a problem. |

Scandisk is still there in XP, it's just called error checking. My Computer, right click the drive/ properties/ error checking. Agree Peter, not a routine task Bob |
