I must need my eyes checking out Looking for my Great Great Grandparents first child Greenwood Sutcliffe born in Ovenden (Halifax area). When you view the census his age always end in 6. This I would have though would have made him born around 1865 I am trying to find him on the 1891 Census (he should have being 26) and their is two Greenwood Sutcliffe that where born in Ovenden. One of them was 27 and the other 26 but I cannot find Greenwood Sutcliffe born in 1865. Please can one help Many Thanks Rowena

The age and year of birth thast appears on the census is an approx. Sometimes you will get the correct year given and sometimes it maybe 5 either way. As to which one is your relative is difficult. I have looked on freebmd for Greenwood's birth and found one in the June quarter of 1864. Registration district Halifax Volume 9a Page 512. I have found what I think is his marriage to Ann Nichol in March quarter of 1890. Registration district Halifax Volume 9a page 646. If you ordered the marriage certificate it will prove/dissprove if he is your relative. The marriage cert will give the names of their father and their occupations at the time of marriage.
