Margaret the entry in the margin will be in the register of corrected entries which I dont think are available for searching just yet, scotlands people say they are still being transcribed but it would be well worth contacting them. Try googling for newspapers from the area he died. Georgina. |

Hi Margaret If the Death is after 1855, and you know the town that they lived in, you can get in touch with the registrar office for that town, and they will supply you with a certificate, but it will cost you £13.00.Or you can order from the-- General Register Office for Scotland New Register House EDINBURGH EH1 3YT Phone: 0131-334-0380 / 0131-314-4433 Why not put some details of the person on the 'Tips Board' and I'm sure you will get more help. Margaret if the death was between 1855-1950 you wont need to send for the certificate you can view it online & print as many copies as you want, it works out a lot cheaper than paying £7 per certificate. Georgina. |

Yes. All the details will show up on the screen, and the site tells you how to send for the certificate. |

I checked on the Scottish site the other member gave details of a few weeks ago to find out about my wife's grandfather's death. The site is brilliant, as in Scotland the death notice also gives the person's parents names including mother' s maiden name. Plus where they died and the reason for the death. Not worth purchasing the death certificate, I just copied it to my computer. Hope this helps |

Margaret Scottish deaths are on scotlands people website but death registration did not begin till 1855, scotlands people is a pay per view site and deaths are covered between 1855-1950. Georgina. |
