FRC - the Family Records centre - is nationwide - BMD and census info. LMA is London Metropolitan Archives and covers only London Area (basically Greater London) - has parish info and other archives. Jim |

FRC or Family Records Centre holds the volumes of books with all the GRO REFs in ,and census's, and some refs for documents held at Kew. holds Marine registers for GRO refs & Consular refs too. The LMA, London Metropoltan Archives is only a short walk from FRC and holds parish records for some london churches amonst other things, better you google to find the full info held |

Hi Angie, Just be aware that Poplar and Stepney will come under Tower Hamlets at LMA. It may be helpful to take prints of the census sheets because you will need to know which parishes to consult. Sometimes the information at the top of the census sheet will give you some idea of where to look. Beware - there are quite a few parish churches in Poplar and Stepney. These websites will give you an indication of some of them: http://homepages.gold.ac(.)uk/genuki/MDX/Poplar/churches.htm http://www(.)parishregister(.)com/areamaps.html http://www(.)eolfhs.org(.)uk/parish/parish_index.htm Remove brackets Cheers, Horatia |
