I am trying to find the marraige of Thomas Dowling and Sarah(here lies the problem ) i do not know her maiden name,They should have been married in Bristol, I have a Thomas Dowling married in 1872 ref; no. 6a 25 ,is there any way of finding his brides name,without ordering the cert.This is proably a stupid request so ignore it if it is!!!!!! kind regards Sandra

The only way to find her maiden name and be 100% sure you have the right name is to order the Marriage cert. Or the Birth cert of a child.

I presume this is the ref you mean Sarah Ann Bolitho 1872 Oct-Nov-Dec Bristol Avon, Gloucestershire Thom Dowling 1872 Oct-Nov-Dec Bristol Avon, Gloucestershire Thomas Dowling 1872 Oct-Nov-Dec Bristol Avon, Gloucestershire William Thomas Rugman 1872 Oct-Nov-Dec Bristol Avon, Gloucestershire Eliza Louisa Smith 1872 Oct-Nov-Dec Bristol Avon, Gloucestershire As you know her name is Sarah I suppose you could assume her surname was the above........but I'd still want the cert if it was me ! I did have a quick look on 1881 to see if Icould see a William Rugman and wife - unfortuanatly ther only possible one was a widow ... so not much help.

On free bmd there is a Sarah Ann Bolitho - same ref no - could be a possibility
