Hello Old Crone. I love that name. Thank you for the reply. On one of my maternal lines I am back to about 1660 and I am satisfied with that. The one on my paternal side is a bit more difficult there is a very interesting record in 1279 but no way of connecting it to the present day. All we can say about that, is that he would be an ancient relative. There is a lot of information that has been found about the family name and certainly not all by me. Eve

Hello Victoria Hello Geogina. Thank you for replying. I found the name on the list of names on 'search' list because there are not a lot of us about 400 or so I thiought I would check up on the one with my christian name I don't think for one moment it is supposed to be me.( I am much older than that) I was just curious and it is probably a mistake on someones part but I know it isn't on Ancestry B.M.Ds. I joined Genesconnected because, as I have said before I was curious and continued because I love the Tips Boards etc. I don't have my tree on it for the reason I have it on Family Historian and I don't feel the need to put it on anything else. I never ask to see anyone elses tree. It would be a bit impertinant to ask if I could when I only have my name there for them to see. I have asked for help about twice for which I was very pleased with and always try to help whenever I can. If anyone asked about my family name then I would certainly reply. Eve

But we all appear in our family trees with our maiden names Georgina. Having said that, I have in my extended family, someone who was born in Australia, left as a baby and who will not therefore, show up as being born if you are looking for her in England where, without knowing, you would expect her to have been hatched. Eve if there was someone with your name (you didn't say where you found her) & you cant find her birth maybe it's her married name? Georgina.

Eve - It's taken me a while but I think you are saying that you have found a tree with you on it - but not with your right age? As for the records in 1000 and 1500.... I can't imagine why someone wouldn't respond - if they are still on this site, not on holiday or some disaster hasn't overtaken then them. Mind you, if their research in regard to the ancient records is as meticulous as their research into the easily verified 1945ish ones, it is no great loss. Victoria

Eve I too would be extremely interested to see a record dated 1000! I have been researching my tree for nearly 40 years and have got back to 1129 on one line. I can tell you that before 1100, there are very few written records, and those that DO exist are almost indecipherable, except to specialists used to reading this very old script. It sounds to me as though you have come across a fantasy tree, you know - my name is Bloggs therefore Osric Blogges, born 936 must be one of my ancestors. Rule of thumb - if sources are not quoted, then ignore it. Anyone who had made a serious and scholarly connection to the year 1000, would quote their sources. OC

I am a curious person really. I often look at the list of people with my family name there aren't a lot of them, if I come across something that puzzles me I check up on it. Today I came upon someone recorded with my name ( there aren't many with my christian name either) so I thought I would look up the date on Ancestry. The date was 1945 so I checked two years before and two years after. Not recorded. Am I being petty or not?. There is also another thing I am puzzled about. There are two more records one date is the year 1000 and the other 1500. I did write to ask only for a bit of info as to where those dates were obtained as my records only go back as far as 1550 ish. It would be extremely interesting to find the record going back to 1000. What a pity the person I wrote to does not reply. I never want to see anyones family tree all I ever want are a few clues. Petty ? possibly but just curious. Eve
