Still Looking Depends if the ship is in British Waters when the event takes place, but I am fairly sure that births and deaths aboard ship have to be repoted at the next port of call anyway, no matter where that is. OC

Just a thought cos i dont know..... If a baby is born at sea, where is that registered? Same as if anyone died while at sea?

have you looked in the over sea section of the BMD? I think family relatives have them free now otherwise 1837online have them on pay to veiw.

reg ha fell off the mast of his ship while mending the radio CWG is the war graves site just search CWG its there john

He may not have died where you think he did - and deaths have to be registered where they occur. Do you have any details of the accident? If an inquest was held, then the death may be registered later than you think, although it should appear as an extra entry in the correct quarter - hope that makes sense? OC

My Uncle died in WW2 but of an accident not war,he is not on the BMD and not on the CWG so how was a service person registered during the war if died in an accident any ideas? john
